Juwelier Pletzsch in Frankfurt
A majestic showcase for fine jewelry and watches.
The Mission
In the heart of the major Hessian city, on one of Germany’s most famous and luxurious shopping streets—the Frankfurt Zeil—you will find the exclusive jeweler Pletzsch. This heritage house is considered the premier destination for wedding rings, jewelry, diamonds, and watches. The 120-square-meter premises, including a master workshop, were to be completely renovated and destined to shine in a brand-new light.
The goal was to move away from dark, heavy furniture and oppressive textured wallpapers. The new design concept was envisioned to embody exclusivity, brilliance, and lightness, creating discreet consultation areas while giving the space a new sense of expanse and generosity.
The Challenge
Within a window of just eight weeks, the entire interior furniture of the exclusive jeweler, along with the flooring and ceiling structures, had to be dismantled. This presented an enormous challenge at the city’s premier address. It was vital that neighboring businesses and customers experienced as little disruption as possible from the construction work. Therefore, all demolition, disposal, and delivery—alongside the coordination of all trades such as flooring, drywall, electrical, painting, and shopfitting—had to be carried out with the utmost cleanliness and discretion.
The new interior concept was designed to both inspire long-standing regular customers and appeal to a younger audience. The layout and placement of the fine jewelry and high-end watches were reimagined to invite visitors to both stroll through and linger within the 120-square-meter retail space. Furthermore, all security aspects of the merchandise presentation had to be skillfully integrated into the overall design concept.
The Solution
Customers enter a bright and inviting store where light, natural colors and materials create a truly majestic atmosphere. Wall elements and freestanding furniture in a white marble finish harmonize with warm wood tones—tastefully combined with brass-framed mirrors, showcases, and wall segments. The 120-square-meter space gains an extraordinary sense of generosity through high-quality wood-look flooring laid in a classic herringbone pattern. The airy, light-flooded area evokes the feel of a noble ballroom in a palace, a theme intentionally underscored by heavy velvet curtains.
Privacy and discrete consultation areas are established by elevated, seemingly floating jewelry showcases connected to the ceiling, as well as plush carpet islands that are formally mirrored in the ceiling design. The high-end jewelry pieces are presented exclusively on inlaid leather surfaces within the showcase bases and on the consultation tables. Finally, the subtly integrated lighting concept impresses with stunning brilliance, captivating every customer of Juwelier Pletzsch in Frankfurt.
